Prototype Version of Thumbylina Exhibited at G-EIGHT 2025 in Taipei

LeonaSoftware exhibited a prototype version of its companion-style Pomodoro timer, Thumbylina, at G-EIGHT 2025, held from December 12 to 14, 2025, at the Taipei Expo Park Expo Dome.

Thumbylina is a compact game device that connects time spent studying, programming, creating, or exercising with the growth of an in-game character. By setting the device's timer and working toward a personal goal, users help the character grow while unlocking new outfits and hairstyles.

Unlike timer applications on smartphones and computers, Thumbylina operates completely offline, allowing users to focus without distracting notifications. Each unit is handcrafted using the open-source Thumby hardware platform. Rather than becoming a mass-produced plastic accessory, the project aims to offer collectible devices in small and varied production runs.

Drawing on its experience in game development and publishing since 1997, LeonaSoftware is creating what it describes as a "virtual pet for the 2020s." In contrast to increasingly large and complex games, Thumbylina offers a small but tangible game experience designed to accompany users in their daily lives.

Visitors at G-EIGHT were able to try the physical device, and the project was also introduced by Taiwanese game media and event reports.
