On October 21, 2024, I published an article on GameMakers, a media outlet for game developers, reporting on the CADPA Game Museum, which opened in Shanghai this July.
The museum is run by Youyanshe under commission from the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association (CADPA), the same group behind ChinaJoy and the China Game Industry Report. It's akin to Japan's CESA commissioning KADOKAWA.
The collection spans the globe, and even with 70 curated photos in the article, it only scratches the surface. The museum's distinctive operation model, comprehensive coverage of both regional and historical game hardware, and inclusion of gray-market items make it truly unique.
